IBPS PO Eligibility 2017 (CWE PO/MT VII) -  Eligibility Details Percentage, Education and Age Limit

Institute of Banking Personnel Selection(IBPS) published official IBPS PO Notification of Common Written Examination (CWE VII) for Probationary Officer and Management Trainee Posts. Graduate candidates can apply for IBPS PO Exam 2017.


Eligibility criteria for IBPS PO Exam include educational qualification, minimum percentage requirement and the age limit for eligible students. IBPS Exam is conducted in three phases, first is a preliminary exam, the second phase is mains exam and the last is the Interview.

Nationality Criteria for IBPS PO 2017 Exam

First, Candidates should satisfy the nationality condition to apply for IBPS exam which is as follows:

  • Candidates must be either 
  • A citizen of India or 
  • A subject of Nepal or 
  • A subject of Bhutan or 
  • A Tibetan Refugee 
A person of India origin who is a migrant of Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

The candidate who belongs to other countries or is migrants should produce the certificate of eligibility which has to be issued by Indian Government.

Age Limit Criteria for IBPS PO 2017

Second, candidates should satisfy the age limit criteria to apply for IBPS Exam:

Minimum Age Limit for a candidate is 20 years on 01.08.217 and maximum age limit is 30 years for IBPS PO Post. That means the candidate should not have born before 02.08.1987 and later than 01.08.1997(Both dates are Inclusive). Age limit is general until the candidate comes under any IBPS PO Age relaxation criteria.

Candidate request for age relaxation to pass the eligibility criteria has to bring the relevant documents or certificates as well as a photocopy of the document when they called for Interview or at any stage of IBPS PO recruitment.

Educational Qualification Criteria for IBPS PO

To appear in IBPS PO Exam, the candidate must have a graduation degree in any discipline from the Indian Government recognized University or he/she must have any equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government as on 05.09.2017.

Candidate should have a valid mark sheet or degree certificate that means he/she must be graduate on the day they register or before 05 Sept. 2017and indicate the percentage of marks obtained in graduation while registering online for IBPS PO Exam.

If any university provides a web based certificate or posted result online then the candidate will be required to submit the relevant original document or certificate signed by the university authority or appropriate college clearly mentioning the date of passing from the institute and need to bring the document at the time of interview otherwise the candidate will not be considered eligible.

If in any case university/ college awards CGPA or OGPA, then candidates are required to convert it to percentage nearest to 2 decimal places and mention it in the application form.

Percentage Calculation in Educational Qualification

Calculation of percentage marks would be arrived by dividing the total marks obtained by the candidate in all the subjects in all years/ semesters of graduation by aggregate maximum marks in all the subjects irrespective of Honors/ optional or additional subject if any and multiplied it by 100.

This will also be applicable to those universities also where the Grade/ Class is decided on the Honors marks only. Fraction of percentage which would be arrived after calculating the above-written process will be ignored for e.g if the percentage is 59.99% will be treated as less than 60% and 54.99 will be treated as less than 55%

Calculation of marks information is made only for the candidates so that every candidate should be aware of the process how the calculation of percentage would take place and in order to decide the eligibility criteria on the basis of educational qualification.
